Golf Sudbury Volunteer Agreement

Overview of the Opportunity

The Parties agree and acknowledge that the relationship intended by this description of expectations is NOT a legally binding agreement or employment relationship. Once placed as a golf volunteer, you will be matched with a role (Starter, Marshal, or Driving Range Attendant) based on your availability and the needs of the specific golf course.

Key Responsibilities or Tasks

  • All Roles:
    • Ensure a positive and professional atmosphere for all players, fellow volunteers, and staff.
    • Welcome golfers and assist in providing a great customer experience throughout the day.
    • During slow periods of play, check in with the pro shop for additional tasks.
  • Starter:
    • Verify payment and suggest appropriate starting tees.
    • Keep the first tee on schedule and record crossover times.
    • Assign carts, ensure all players sign the cart waiver, and record cart numbers.
    • Remind players about pace of play and other facility rules.
    • Inform pro shop of any issues.
  • Marshal:
    • Record cart numbers and pace of play.
    • Encourage pace of play when needed.
    • Inform pro shop of any issues.
  • Range Attendant:
    • Ensure range opens on time daily.
    • Take payments and record member buckets.
    • Monitor range ball inventory and cleanliness.
    • Help keep student range attendants busy and on task.

Skills, Experience and/or Requirements

  • Knowledge of golf and the rules.
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally.
  • Ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions to others.
  • Ability to work independently once given tasks.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.

Time Commitment

Golf Courses & Driving Range Hours:
Open Sunday – Saturday, 6 AM – 9 PM, including statutory holidays.
Driving range hours may vary depending on weather, season, and maintenance schedules.

Benefits

Volunteers receive free golf at the course they volunteer at, with a commitment of at least two (2) shifts per week. Volunteers may book tee times up to three (3) days in advance. No bookings on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays before 12:00 PM.

Additional Things You Should Know

  • Volunteer shifts continue rain or shine (may be postponed/cancelled in severe weather).
  • Orientation meeting will be held on April 19th, 2025.
  • Volunteers are responsible for weather-appropriate attire.
  • Volunteers must bring their own food and beverages.

This is a voluntary role, and no employer-employee relationship is created. The volunteer agrees to indemnify and hold Golf Sudbury harmless from any claims, injuries, or damages, except those caused solely by Golf Sudbury’s negligence.
