July 4th 2016 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf Day

On our tenth Monday Ladies Golf Day this season we had a total of 108 participants, of which 3 were new golfers to our Monday Golf Day.

We would like to remind our golfers that our Ladies Golf Day at Cedar Green is intended to offer an opportunity for golfers at ALL levels of experience to enjoy an unstressed, fun filled game of golf. With that in mind we would hope that the experienced golfers respect the rules of golf by not teeing off until the players ahead of them are approaching the green on par 4s and 5s and off the green on par 3s. As well, for our less experienced golfers we wish to remind you that once you have reached 10 strokes, please pick up you ball count 10 on your score card and move on the next hole. Due to the fact that we have a late shotgun start of 6:00pm we want to ensure that play moves at a fair pace and that everyone can join us in the clubhouse at a reasonable hour to enjoy the social aspect of getting together.

This evening we would like to thank Sam Yawney and Pro Golf Liquidators for donating a free sleeve of Pinnacle Bling golf balls to every participant who joined us at the 6:00 pm shotgun start.

As well, thank to our chef Brian Cattapan for filling in for the local Molsons representative while providing samples of Molson 67 beer to our golfers on the course. He also featured the large cans of Molson’s 67 beer at the discounted price of $5.00. We were also surprised by the over 40 gift donations (of ball caps, cowboy hats, playing cards, secure passport holders, bamboo coasters, sunglasses, and beverage cooler sleeves all with the Molson product logos). This gifts were provided by our local Molsons rep, which we gave out via random draws to the ladies who joined us in the clubhouse this evening. Let’s not forget Brian’s wonderful BBQ rib buffet which received rave reviews from our dinners.

Next week on Monday July 11th we will be hosting a cake auction to raise additional funds for our “Angels in Pink Night” and thus far our committee members and lady golfers have committed to donating 5 home baked cakes. So we ask you to bring extra cash next week to bid on these baking delights which can be later enjoyed at home with your families. Linda Collison will be selling her renowned fudgy Dutch chocolate brownies for $2 each as part of her contribution to this fundraiser. The owners of the Mighty Canadian Doughnuts will be providing samples of their products along with the desserts donated by the ladies committee for this event.

Remember all proceeds from this bake sale/auction will be added to the funds we accrue from our Elliot Lake / Stoneridge Golf raffle. The total amount will be given to Annette Cressy the representative for the Angel’s in Pink campaign. This organization continues to raise funds to purchase diagnostic equipment for our local Northern Cancer Treatment Centre.

We have been asked to remind our weekly winners of the Cedar Green prizes vouchers to understand that these vouchers must be used in their entirety at the time they are redeemed. The pro shop cannot give you change for the unused portion, therefore you might consider using them to pay part of a friend’s green fee and they can give you the payment for that the portion you spend on them. Some members save their vouchers and use them at the end of the season to put towards their membership fees for the following year season. However you decide to use your prize vouchers remember they must be redeemed in the 2016 golf season.
