July 30 th 2018 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf Day

Once again weather was excellent this evening for our twelfth Monday Ladies golf day. We had a total of 117
participants of which 7 were new golfers Ladies Night.
This week we played our own game and golfers were given free lifts from any water, so even if you lost a ball
in the water you did not add a stroke to your score.
This evening, our beverage manager Keanrda is providing the weekly featured drink of Leimenkrugel Lemon
Shandy Coolers at the discounted price of $5.00.
This evening the Heart and Stroke Association were present at Cedar Green promoting their most recent fund
raising initiative. For the cost of $5, players were given an opportunity to enter their names to qualify for a
draw by predicting their golf score prior to playing their game. If their score was either 5 strokes below or
above their predicted score, they qualified for a prize draw to be held at the end of August.
Representatives for the Heart and Stroke Association will be present at several golf courses throughout the
upcoming weeks including Monte Vista on Wednesday August 1 st and will be providing golfers an opportunity
to participate in this fundraiser.
Once again it was brought to our attention that some of the ladies who choose to start their evening round of
golf early, are not arriving at their booked starting hole at the 6pm shot gun start. This resulted in a bottle
neck while the early golfers are trying finish playing a hole prior to driving or walking to their booked starting
hole. To avoid the delays we ask if you plan to play 1 or 2 holes (last and second last holes) prior to the 6 pm
shotgun start, please insure you have enough time to get to your booked starting hole by 6pm.
Another issue that is causing delays is some golfers are not picking up their balls after they have hit it 10 times.
The reason we have asked golfers to count a max of 10 strokes and move on to the next hole is to ensure our
novice golfers do not experience frustration with their game and they do not hold up play on the course.
This week is our 12 th schedule Monday Ladies Golf Day at Cedar Green and we encourage ladies to please
check the attendance sheet posted in the Ladies locker room to ensure the spelling of your name is correct
and that our records accurately reflect your attendance this season.
Remember, golfers who participate in 12 Monday Ladies’ Day Golf games between May 14 th and September
24 th qualify for the bonus draws when they attend our Wrap-up day on Saturday, September 29 th .
Currently we email our weekly newsletter to 246 women golfers in the Sudbury area, prior to posting it on the
Cedar Green and Golf Sudbury websites. If you want to be included on the distribution list please provide your
email address to Linda Collison.
Next Monday, August 6 th we will be playing a Best Drive Shamble format. Like in a scramble, all members of a
team (usually four) tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the
spot of the best drive . From this point, the hole is played out at stroke play , with all members of the team
playing their own ball into the hole and recording their individual scores.

We would like to remind you to book your starting hole on the Sign-up Sheet for next Monday when you
register for Ladies night golf in the pro shop. If you did not have an opportunity to do so, you can call at the
pro shop 705-560-1090 and the staff will book your starting hole for next week.
