July 25th Newsletter – Monte Vista Ladies Golf Day

Eleventh ladies night and 68 ladies enjoyed a round of golf on an outstanding day. Perfect weather and the song that came to mind was “Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot…”

A draw for a Ram Black and Orange Golf Bag is being held upstairs at Monte Vista and all proceeds will be donated to Northern Cancer Society and proceeds stay in Sudbury. $2 each ticket will be sold until September 26th wrap up night.

Whenever you order one of the food specials, your name is entered in a draw for your next visit in the restaurant on ladies’ night. This week’s winner is Rhonda Lascelle! Congrats! Food is always delicious in the Summit! Thanks to Lillian and staff….they work extremely hard!

UPCOMING TOURNAMENT: Curl Sudbury is hosting a Golf Day on Saturday, Aug 4th. This Annual Golf Day is a great tournament. Tournament includes 18 Holes with a cart at Pine Grove, delicious steak dinner at the Sudbury Curling Club and prizes. $75/person and a 9:30 am Shot Gun start. A best ball scramble so register your team at info@sudburycurlingclub.ca or by calling 705-673-5601. Don’t wait too late so your team is guaranteed to play!

A new division has been added but it is not considered when playing a Scramble or a Schamble:

Senior Ladies’ Division for ladies 70 and over. When paying your $5 on the sign up sheet you must indicate “SR” next to your name to be considered in this division. If you did not do so but wrote “SR” on your card, you will NOT be considered for this division.

Senior Ladies’ Closest to the Pin for ladies 70 and over. When paying your $5 on the sign up sheet you must indicate “SR” next to your name to be considered in this division. If you did not do so but wrote “SR” on your card, you will NOT be considered for this division. Closest to Pin for Senior Ladies is played every week.

NEW…EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY…if your ball is hit out of bonds (white stakes), you do not take another shot from the tee off. Proceed to the point of entry, count a stroke and shoot from there. This applies to all holes with white stakes.

TEMPORARY GREEN ON HOLE 3….once your ball lands in the circle, add a stroke and proceed to next hole. No need trying to putt until you sink the ball.

$340 was collected and as agreed upon, $1 from the $5 is kept for our year end wrap up night.

The balance of $272 is paid out by vouchers.  Here are this week’s winners of a $15 voucher:

Closest to Pin Marg Hardie

Closest to Pin Senior Paulette Bertrand

Closet to Rope Jodie Giroux

Today we played a Schamble on the Front Nine. Like in a scramble, all members of your team tee off and the best ball of the team is selected. All players move their balls to the spot of the best ball. From this point, all members of the team play their own ball into the hole and record their individual scores. The format is for the entire 9 holes.

The winners of $15 voucher are:

Score 39 – Colette Vaillancourt

Score 40 – Karen Croteau

Score 41 – Sue Prudhomme

Score 41 – Chantal Moncion

Score 42 – Paulette Carriere

Score 43 – Freida Nassas

Score 43 – Wavey Anstey

Score 43 – Nicole Beskorowany

Score 44 – Shyanne Roberts

***Next Wednesday we are playing our own game on the Back Nine. A 2 foot string will be given to all ladies and it can be used to save putts if your string is long enough… do not add that stroke to your score…when you use the string, cut string and continue using it until it is too short or there is no string left. Scissors are attached to each flag pole.

All ladies who pay $5 prize fees and play 12 games from May 16th to September 26th can join us for our year end wrap up on September 26th. Prizes/gift will be awarded to all qualified participants. The attendance report is posted on the Bulletin board near Pro Shop.
