July 25th 2016 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf Day

What a great evening celebration for our third annual Angels in Pink fundraiser. This week we had a sea of ladies dressed in PINK. A total of 113 participants came out for our 13th Ladies Golf Day at Cedar Green. Seven  were new golfers joining us for the first time this season. We hope this was a good experience for you all and that you will continue golfing on Monday nights at Cedar Green.

This evening we played a 2 person scramble format therefore the prize vouchers are be awarded to the twosomes with the 6 lowest gross scores.  There was a bit of confusion when we started awarding the vouchers for the 6 lowest gross scores, as Kyle prepared vouchers for 2 low gross and 4 low net scores. We made a few adjustments to the vouchers and will have Kyle prepare the vouchers for the winners indicated below. We thank you for your patience and we ask you see Lisa next week for your individual vouchers in the amount of $16.50 (shared amount $33 awarded to each winning team).

As many of you may know, for the past few years the Cedar Green Ladies Night Golf has supported the Angels in Pink in their effort to raise money for diagnostic equipment for the Northern Cancer Treatment Centre in Sudbury. Once again we have focused our efforts on this initiative by sell raffle tickets for a one night stay at the Hampton Inn and a round of golf for two with cart at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Elliot Lake (valued at over $280) and hosting our annual cake auction.

This Monday is a special evening, as the Cedar Green Ladies’ committees are taking this opportunity to present Annette Cressy of Angels in Pink a total of $1128.

This money was raised for our annual fundraising event through several initiatives started 4 weeks ago.

  1. The raffle tickets sold for a one night stay at the Elliot Lake Hampton Inn and two rounds of golf with cart at the Stone Ridge Golf Course donated by Elliot Lake Retirement Living https://www.retireelliotlake.com/ generated $497.00 in sales.
  2. Our cake auction held on July 6th raised $431.00.
  3. Sam Yawney donated $200 which was added to our 2 fundraising events.

The contributions provided by all our Golf Sudbury partners were truly appreciated. We thank you all for helping us provide this generous donation which has paid off the second Navigation Probe which is used during the Lymph Node portion of Breast Cancer Surgery. Angels in Pink are now raising funds for the Sudbury Cancer Centre’s 3rd probe.

In keeping with our Angels in Pink theme night, we encouraged all our participants to don their PINK attire.  Due to the huge number of ladies who took on this challenge we awarded a prize to our two best dress Ladies in Pink.  Three of our regular golfers truly took this challenge seriously as shown in the pictures below. Our three finalists were Cathy Macey, Yolande Rabiej, and Sue Hemmerling.

We voted as a group by cheering for the two ladies deemed worthy of the 2 prizes for “Best Dressed in Pink” and we determined that this year’s winners were Sue Hemmerling and Yolande Rabiej . Both were awarded a $25 gift card donated by our sponsor Zacks Fashions located in the New Sudbury Shopping Centre and a sleeve of pink Pinnacle golf balls.

We held our draw for this evening’s fundraiser and Rita Robichaud won the one night stay at the Elliot Lake Hampton Inn and two rounds of golf with cart at the Stone Ridge Golf Course.

This past weekend Pine Grove held their annual Club Championship tournament which was enjoyed by many Golf Sudbury members who attended. We would like to congratulate Sharon O’Brien for winning the championship.

Next week is Martini Night and we will be offering a discounted price on various specialty martinis.  August 1st we will be playing our game on the back nine with any overflow assigned on designated holes on the front.
