July 17th 2017 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf Day

For our twelfth Monday, we had a total of 116 participants of which 8 were new golfers Ladies Night.

This week we played our own game and golfers were given free lifts from any water, so even if you lost a ball in the water you did not add a stroke to your score.

As a special bonus this evening we had beer tasting hosted by Waterloo Brewery. The company representative provided samples of Landshark lager, Grapefruit Radler and Citrus Radler that were enjoyed by many of our ladies prior to our 6 pm shotgun start.

Many of our golfers enjoyed the stuffed bruschetta chicken and pasta buffet Caitlin Craig prepared for our Ladies Night special and were delighted in the new menu items she offered this week. Starting next week, Caitlin will offer a charcuterie board that can be enjoyed with wine on Ladies Night as well as her weekly special.

Last week a copy of the attendance summary was emailed along with our newsletter to the ladies on our email distribution list so that participants could monitor their own attendance. Unfortunately, in few cases the attachment was too large, as 8 emails were returned as undeliverable. Therefore we ask that you review the hard copy of the attendance sheet posted in the Ladies locker room to ensure the spelling of your name is correct and that the spreadsheet accurately reflects your attendance this season.

Remember, golfers who participate in 12 Monday Ladies’ Day Golf games between May 1st and September 11th qualify for the bonus draws when they attend our wrap-up evening on September 19th.  Last season great prizes were provided by over 50 businesses in the Sudbury and Algoma region.

Currently, we email our weekly newsletter to 239 women golfers in the Sudbury area, prior to posting it on the Cedar Green and Golf Sudbury websites. If you want to be included on the distribution list please provide your email address to Linda Collison.

Next Monday. July 24th is PINK NIGHT and we will be playing a Best Drive Shamble format. Like in a scramble, all members of a team (usually four) tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the spot of the best ball. From this point, the hole is played out at stroke play, with all members of the team playing their own ball into the hole and recording their individual scores.

In keeping with our “Angels in Pink” theme night, we encourage all our participants to don their PINK attire as we will be awarding a prize to our best dressed Lady in Pink.

Last week we held our best cake auction yet raising a total of $565.00. This evening we will continue selling our raffle tickets for the Elliot Lake golf & stay package and proceeds from the raffle will be added to the money raised by our cake auction and donation of $145 from the Monte Vista Ladies Golf Committee. We will continue sales until the prize draw at the end of the evening on July 24th. Most importantly, we will be presenting the Angels in Pink proceeds from both fundraisers as our annual contribution to their campaign to purchase diagnostic equipment for the Northern Cancer Treatment Centre.

In an effort expedite registration and alleviate some of the congestion in the pro shop between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, Rob Mininni has set up an on-line website where guests ONLY can pre-pay their green fees, cart fees and prizes fees one week in advance. Here is the link for next Monday, https://www.chronogolf.ca/club/17066/events/52612

If you have not had an opportunity to book your starting hole for next Monday, you can call at the pro shop 705-560-1090 and the staff will book it for you.
