August 14th 2017 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf Day

For our 16th Ladies Golf day this season, we had a total of 95 participants.

Tonight we played a new game format called a “Shamble”. Like in a scramble, all members of a team (usually four) tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the spot of the best ball. From this point, the hole is played out at stroke play, with all members of the team playing their own ball into the hole and recording their individual scores. It appears this format helped several golfers improve their scores.

We would like to inform our club members that Cedar Green will be hosting their Club Championship tournament on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th. Tee times will begin at 9 am each day with flights on Sunday. The entry fee is $25 per person and is open to Cedar Green Members.  Registration includes a lunch and dinner. This event is member only. For more details please contact Kyle Lekun at 705-560-1090 and you can register online at

Next week on Monday, August 21st, we will be playing a 2 person scramble and for some added fun we will be hiding 2 gnomes on the golf course on the back and front nine.  A prize will be awarded to the 2 individuals whose ball lands closest to the “Cedar Green Hidden Gnomes”.

We will ask the qualifying golfer to record their name on the marker that will be located near the gnome and mark the spot they landed.  The individual who lands closest to either hidden gnome (one of the front and one on the back) will win a prize.

Due to the loss of daylight hours, our shotgun start will be at 5:30 pm effective next Monday and will continue to be at that time until September 11th at which date our shotgun will be at 5:00 pm until our wrap-up on September 18th.

In an effort expedite registration and alleviate some of the congestion in the pro shop between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, GolfSudbury has set up an online website where guests ONLY can pre-pay their green fees, cart fees, and prizes fees one week in advance. Here is the link for next Monday,

If you have not had an opportunity to book your starting hole for next Monday, you can call at the pro shop 705-560-1090 and the staff will book it for you.
