29th May 2017 Newsletter – Cedar Green Monday Ladies Golf

At long last we had great weather this evening which obviously had a positive impact on our numbers this evening. We had a total of 114 ladies join us for our 5th scheduled Monday Ladies Golf Day at Cedar Green, of which 13 were new participants for this season.

At today’s 6:00 pm shotgun start our format was “play your own game”, however to help you with your game we gave you a 5 foot length of string, which you could use in lieu of a putt(s). We hope your score improved with this advantage.

As some of you may be aware, a few weeks ago we had over 133 golfers join us for our Monday Ladies Golf Night which proved to be a challenge when registering golfers in a timely manner and having them reach their hole by 6:00 pm.

In an effort expedite registration and alleviate some of congestion in the pro shop between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, Rob Mininni has set up an on-line website where guests ONLY can pre-pay their green fees, cart fees and prizes fees one week in advance. You can access the on registration here: https://www.chronogolf.ca/club/17066/events/46155

Guests who chose this method of payment must print their proof of purchase and submit it to the starter before they go to their booked starting hole for the 6:00 pm shotgun start.  You will still have to call the pro shop to book your starting hole if you did not already book one in the clubhouse on the previous Monday. Your attendance will be recorded using these receipts and will be used for our prize draws.

Since the beginning of this season we have had 77 ladies who could have taken advantage of this prepayment method and would been a great time saver to all.

This method of payment is not available for Golfsudbury /flex members or guests who have purchased 10 pack fees. These golfers must still register in the pro shop to pay the prize fee and pick up their starter slip which needs to be given to the starter prior to the shotgun start at 6:00 pm.

Next Monday, June 5th we will be holding our Wine and Cheese Night, rain or shine.  Karen and Sam Yawney will generously provide the wine and our committee will be serving and assortment of cheeses, crackers and fruit platters, after we have completed our round of golf. This event is intended to show our appreciation for all the ladies who have regularly supported our Monday Golf Night. If it rains we will still host the event at 6:00 pm and everyone is welcome.

We will start selling raffle tickets for our annual fund raiser for Pink Night. We will hold a few events for the purpose of raising funds to purchase diagnostic equipment for the Northeastern Ontario Cancer Treatment Centre.  The prize is a one night stay at the Elliot Lake Hampton Inn

https://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/ontario/hampton-inn-by-hilton-elliot-lake-ontario-canada-YELONHX/index.html and a round of golf for two with cart at the Stone Ridge Golf Club

https://www.golfstoneridge.com/ . The tickets will be sold for $2 each or 3 for $5.

Next week we will be playing a 2 person scramble.  If you do not have a partner please ensure you alternate your shots with one other player in your threesome. (This is not a 3 person scramble).

Ladies who were present at the clubhouse this evening were given an opportunity to book their starting hole on the Sign-up Sheet for Monday June 5th. Those ladies who were not present can still call the pro shop after 8:00 am on Tuesday morning at 705-560-1090.
